It has been understood through weekly ultrasounds prior to Noah's childbirth that Noah's kidneys were not present or forming as they should. A plan was made to deliver Noah at Brigham and Woman's Hospital and to provide treatment at Children's Hospital, including possible dialysis and a kidney transplant to help in Noah's well being.
Nic, Josi and Grace, along with Josi's sister Kate have moved to the Yawkey Family Inn in Brookline, to be close to Noah while he is cared for at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at nearby Children's Hospital.
Currently, Noah is diagnosed as having Kidney Disease - chronic kidney failure, stage 5 requiring a kidney transplant at approximately age one. Noah is being monitored by the staff of the NICU to determine whether he will require dialysis.
Nic, Josi, Grace and Kate are focused on giving Noah the best chance possible as he grows to the point of a kidney transplant. Moving to Boston and with both of them out of work, it will be difficult to make ends meet.
A fund has been set up to support the family through this time. Thanks to all who have expressed caring and generosity while Noah and family work through his beginning years. Your prayers and assistance are gratefully appreciated!
